Respiratory therapist perform many important functions that are vital to the patient’s health. Working with the physicians and nurses, the respiratory therapist treat patients with breathing and lung disorders. They often work in the intensive care units. Their responsibilities include the set up of ventilators and the monitoring of them. They also do tests to measure a patient’s lung capacity and check for lung dysfunctions. Working with the patient, they assist with breathing treatments and exercises. Respiratory therapist are trained to work with highly complex equipment, that is used to assist people with breathing. Required Schooling for Orlando Respiratory Therapist

Respiratory Therapist must complete a two year degree program, obtaining their associates degree or some choose a four year bachelor degree program. Upon completion, the national exam for certification must be taken to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist. After passing the certification exam, there are two other exams that can be taken to obtain Registered Respiratory Therapist status. All states, except Hawaii and Alaska require the respiratory therapist to be licensed. To be eligible for state licensing, the student must have graduated from an accredited school and have passed the CRT exam.
