What Is a Respiratory Therapist?
Respiratory therapists are in great need through out all hospitals and health care facilities. These therapists are needed around the clock to ensure the well being of all patients dealing with some type of respiratory or pulmonary situation.
Responsibilities of a Respiratory Therapist
Respiratory therapists work in medical facilities and they handle the respiratory equipment for patients to ensure that they are working properly. They check the vital signs of patients monitor and set up equipment. They meet with doctors and nurses to discuss patient treatment plans. They perform chest exams, perform blood work, and test for CO2 and blood gas levels. They set up ventilators and other artificial airway devices. In this field of learning there is always new technology available to learn about.
Educational Courses for Respiratory Therapists
All respiratory therapists have to take the preliminary college basic prerequisite courses in English, math and science.
